Deputy editor, Aceville Publications
Full-time position, office-based in Colchester
Aceville Publications is looking for a deputy editor to join our busy, commercial and creative food and lifestyle editorial department. The ideal candidate will be posted on Soul & Spirit, the UK’s top spiritual glossy. You will be highly organised, driven and knowledgeable about what makes the women’s interest magazine sector commercial, appealing and relevant in 2018.
If you are educated to degree level, have a penchant for writing well researched, engaging copy for our target readership, and a head full of relevant feature ideas, then you could be just what we’re looking for. With a keen eye for detail, an excellent grasp of grammar and an ability to create content that will excite and entertain our readers and followers, you’ll be also be competent at fulfilling a brief and hitting multiple deadlines throughout the month.
You will need to be as at home commissioning and subbing a spiritual expert’s column as you are at curating our image-led shopping pages, selecting great images and liaising with our in-house design team on a page layout. A positive, can-do attitude will aid you in supporting the editor in all aspects of production, from commissioning and briefing contributors to supporting advertising and promotions departments with commercial ideas. All the while you have have the target reader firmly in the forefront of your mind.
A whizz on social media, you’ll know just the right hook to appeal to our followers and you will be as comfortable writing an engaging blog post for online and social media as you are researching and writing a 1500 word article on crystals for the printed publication.
